Hi Kiriaki, Unfortunately, authority control is an area of DSpace that is still poorly documented. I've just logged a new ticket around that here: https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-4005 (I'm hoping that someone on this list might help us fix that and/or volunteer to share their own local documentation!). I admit, I don't even have a clear understanding of each of the configuration options...but, here's the basic documentation we do have:

There is such a feature for *authors* (the SolrAuthorAuthority plugin), but it's primarily used by the ORCID integration described at: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC6x/ORCID+Integration I'm hoping someone else here has more information, and/or can help us enhance this area of the documentation.
