It's listed as one of the "use cases" at https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC6x/ORCID+Integration#ORCIDIntegration-DifferentpossibleusecasesforIndex-authorityscript In addition, the "lookup" feature will search both in ORCID as well as in your locally indexed author fields.
