Mark Diggory commented on DS-964:

Robin,

I would like to see some mechanism for providing rendering hints in the DRI. so
I'm not against seeing some hints that suggest possible "content behaviors".
But we do recommend not having these be literally javascript /onchange
attributes passed through the Wing because this hardwires the content model to
the presentation too tightly.

I would suggest that they want to

1.) pass attributes / identifiers concerning some "service" that would complete
a particular task via wing attirbutes or elements.
2.) Improve the xslt library to take those identifiers/parameters and apply
them to produce the onchange handler output.

We see the same problem in the workt hat Rob Tansely did, passing the html META
attributes through as text, that wasn't a great idea either and should have
been separated up into separate pageMeta values and xslt code to properly
render them.

> Creative Commons hosts a web service that can supply the user interface
> elements that DSpace needs to provide a complete user experience in DSpace,
> with respect to the Creative Commons license step. This patch implements the
> Creative Commons web service api to support the user interface selections,
> item view and search.
> DSpace currently takes an integration approach to selecting a Creative
> Commons (CC) license during the submission process that results in an awkward
> user experience. This patch proposes to simplify the user experience through
> implementing the CC License API in the submission process. This patch also
> adds searchability to the CCLicensed items by storing the license uri as
> metadata.
> As well, the license rdf acquisition is separated from the submission process
> into a curation task.
> A future CC task(s) may address the issue of updating or migrating existing
> CC license data.
