Hardy Pottinger commented on DS-1143:
-------------------------------------
I have several more stack traces I can attach, including a few I've gathered
from running into this exception on an itemUpdate process. In googling the
error message, I can see two possible routes for debugging: it's possible the
path name in use by my instance of DSpace is becoming corrupted, or there may
be a problem with the IO library's understanding of Linux directory permissions
(wild guess, not likely true). If anyone else is seeing this error message,
would love to see your stack traces. Note that this error still appears to be
intermittent, whenever it crops up, repeating your upload or itemUpdate process
is always successful.

> Our repository runs on 1.7.2, I can't confirm this issue for other versions,
> as it is intermittent. There have been a couple of reports on DSpace-tech
> regarding this error message (Java.io.IOException: No such file or directory
> error) cropping up at random, usually on file upload attempts. See:
> http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=28946233
> I have recently seen the same error when I was running an ItemUpdate from the
> command line. I will attach two stack traces, forwarded by one of our
> repository admins. Nothing immediately leaps out from a quick scan of them,
> however. My intention is to have a place in Jira where we can attach more
> stack traces, and see if we can maybe figure out what the problem might be.
