Hi Mark, Thanks for the feedback! You're comments make me think we should add this 'OR12 draft agenda' as a topic to our DSpace Developers Meeting this week (on Weds, June 13th).

This is good feedback. You are correct, we may want to rework the schedule to allow for more 3.0 dialog. As you noted, currently we only had an hour allocated for 3.0 discussion. However, if we have enough 3.0 sub-topics (especially a deeper discussion on particular features that could alter the data model), I agree that an hour may not be enough time. So, it would be worth determining how much time we feel should be allocated to 3.0, and then reworking the schedule to support it. As for the Fedora alignment comments: I've talked with Jonathan Markow (DuraSpace's Chief Strategy Officer) and Chris Wilper (DuraSpace's Fedora Tech Lead) today. While we all agree that the DSpace and Fedora communities need to look towards areas of alignment, it may be rather difficult to get everyone in the same room at OR12, namely because of the number of conflicts between members of these groups & the busy conference schedule. In addition, from my understanding the Fedora Developers themselves may be discussing ways to begin a possible re-architecting of Fedora at their OR12 meeting (which may or may not make the "DSpace w/Fedora Inside" idea a bit of a moving target, depending on what decisions are made). The OR12 Fedora Developers Mtg agenda is jut getting started at: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/FCREPO/July+9th+2012%2C+OR12+Committer+Meeting However, it is worth noting that DuraSpace has been brainstorming ways to get members of DSpace & Fedora (& Hydra & Islandora) communities together for a face-to-face meeting later this year. In my absence, Jonathan has offered to provide an overview of the latest DuraSpace brainstorms & give updates on Fedora plans & the "Fedora Inside" idea at the OR12 DSpace Developer meeting. So, if we'd like to set-aside a 1/2 hour or so for Jonathan, he's willing to talk & answer questions during the OR12 DSpace Developer Meeting. As in year's past, we would like to plan a Monday night "pub meetup" between all the attendees of either the OR12 DSpace or Fedora Developer Meetings. We'll be working out the details of where/when and let everyone know. This would be an opportunity for the groups to mingle a bit and get updates from each other's meetings. Again, I'll add this as a topic for this week's DSpace Developers Meeting (Weds, June 13 @ 20:00 UTC in #duraspace IRC). That will be another opportunity to give feedback on which areas of the OR12 draft schedule may need changes. If anyone else has feedback to add, please send it along or join our Dev Mtg on Weds! - Tim ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
