I found myself in a somewhat similar situation when I was batch importing
data to DSpace. I was creating dublin_core.xml files containing values for
data.accessioned. I was mistakenly assigning it the value of the date the
item was published. DSpace was also picking date accessioned on it's own
and I ended up with two date.accessioned fields in each item.
I imagine you'd have to export all items, delete all items from the
collection, explicitly set the author field to "none" or something like
that and then batch import everything in.
