I just noticed that Jim Rutherford responded in a similar manner to how I was going to :) Beyond what Jim mentioned, using RHEL is much more convenient for me, since our Campus IT is then able to support the OS on our production server. So, I'm not actually managing the operating system at all. Our campus IT does that as a part of our partnership (between the library and campus IT) in creating an institutional repository. So, the decision to use RHEL was made based on what "flavors" of Linux our campus IT has decided they are willing to help support. I prefer it this way, since I don't have to worry as much about performing OS patches, OS upgrades, etc. I am able to actually just be the software manager for our server. So, although I can understand the desire to "go with what's free", it's sometimes not that simple in reality. :) -Tim -- ======================================== Tim Donohue Research Programmer, Illinois Digital Environment for Access to Learning and Scholarship (IDEALS) 135 Grainger Engineering Library University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] web: http://ideals.uiuc.edu phone: (217) 333-4648 fax: (217) 244-7764 ======================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
