We have some local customizations which I'd like to a) offer to contribute back, AND b) maintain locally
in 1.5. These amount to some extra java (an authenticator, some servlets, etc), a few language keys, etc. (Not important, but they focus on getting auth and dynamic groups out of the server environment, eg REMOTE_USER, extra headers, etc, to integrate with apache-module based auths, and similar). At OR2008 there was talk about the new maven build supporting overlays (is that correct) for defining such things, I believe. I've not had much chance finding the docs, though, and have asked around locally, checked the wiki, etc, but there's always the possibilty I'm being dim. I can do maven, I'm just interested mainly in where I should put things for an overlay/whatever-it-is-I-want. Also, is this overlay stuff a sensible format in which to submit a patch back?
