Thanks Mark! I can probably go ahead from here.

Just a couple of questions from that: I was a bit worried about the UI 
part in your reply (as not all of the changes are UI, eg new implict 
authenticator has no UI). Also, does someone have a link to an example 
tutorial, to save me having to reverse the POMs to work out what's going 
on? Or perhaps there was a dspace-tech thread which discusses the 
mechanism: I only found one with the proposal, and one which said it was 
done. (Not a complaint, I realise that 1.5 is new: I just don't know the 
extent to which I've been useless discovering things, vs them not existing).
