I have a question regarding the administrative rights in DSpace when it comes
to submitting publications. My question is this: Is it possible for an
administrator to connect a publication to an e-person without logging in to
DSpace (1.5.0, JSPUI) as this person, but rather as an administrator? I can't
find any way to do it and maybe this just isn't possible. I am asking because
it would be good if we could submit just a little information before the actual
e-person's submission. If you see what I mean. This is our workflow:

1. We register the PhD-student as e-person, instead of having the student
registering their e-mail.

2. We then need to register the date of expected publication of the
thesis along with the title of the thesis. This obviously has to do with the
publication/item and not with the e-person/user. We need the date and title to
keep track of the PhD-student and to see who is about to publish and who hasn't
published when they should have.

This would be an embryo to the full item record that the PhD-student would meet
when signing in to DSpace for the first time. It would be best I think if this
could be done outside the DSpace submission workflow, but we want to consider
solutions within the normal workflow as well.

If anyone has a solution for this or thought about it, please let me know.

Thank you,
Caroline Karregård
