It's my (perhaps skewed?) perception that there is a much larger number of 
Postgres DSpace installs out there, thus it is the more heavily tested option.

Also, all things being equal, isn't it far more expensive to run an Oracle 
instance, vs. the free Postgres license?  You would also be diversifying your 
administration skills having multiple types of databases, which I never see as 
a good thing.
