not an immediate answer to your question, but an alternative approach
instead:
As an administrator, you can use the CSV batch edit tool also to submit new
items. This may speed up your process.
I noticed that the DSpace documentation was quite limited in terms of
instructions for using the web user interface for this purpose.
Therefore, we added a few screenshots to make this clear:
