Howdy Keith - Did an adobe acrobat find for BEEP, SWR, ALERT, TEMPERATURE, etc and found nothing matching your description, then looked in the Owner's Manual Addendum and found that if BCL (Busy Channel Lockout) is turned ON the radio will beep on PTT indicating there is a signal or noise on the frequency - try either turning the attenuator on, or BCL Off and see if that helps. 73, Steve NU5D
