Like many on this group I am considering a purchase of a DStar radio. I was fascinated with the digital aspect of the Icom radios when they arrived on the amateur market having wondered if hams would follow the previous generation and reuse commercial land mobile sets designed for the P25 digital standard possibley setting up trunked systems to cover wide areas.
I find that the more I lean about DStar the less I am impressed with the data side of the radios. I was looking for radios that would be able to pass signaficant amounts of data in addtion to a voice channel all at the same time. Perhaps I am expecting to much. I would like to ask those of you out there that are active with DStar what you are doing with your radios in the way of data transmission in addition to voice communications. -- Ken Sprouse / WA3FKG http://www.wa3fkg.com John 3:16 The box said "Win98/2000/XP or better" so I installed Linux!
