Certainly not. I bought my D-STAR radio before the first D-STAR repeater came on air here. However, I still had a ball, as there was a lot of simplex D-STAR activity at the time. I saw that D-STAR had hit critical mass here and had started to take off, so repeater or not, it looked like a mode worth supporting. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to buy all the radios I want, so I have to wait until it looks like a few people will have a mode, before investing.
