I have had a 92AD and have watched two videos about so-called problems. I have
had my radio over six months and none of these problem have occured with my
radio. I found it interesting that one of the videos was from a non-ham. Wonder
why he wants a radio without a proper lisence. He admits he is not a Ham
Operator.
As far as the screen going blank I would imagine that if you pass the antenna
of another radio with the PTT switch engaged that close to any radio it would
do something. Maybe blank your screen too.
Also the cutting out the person in the second video was talking about happens
all the time on my scanners and my Shortwave radios. I have two shortwave
radios and they cut out sometimes. I figure it is the condtions and go on from
there.
My main purpose for writing this is that I have never had a problem with my
radio. The only thing is the R2D2 on Digital. I can move about 300 feet and
everything is okay. However that is out of my apartment and doesn't make since
but I am building an antenna to help with the digital problem here at my
apartment.
This is my opinion and I know everyone else does too. I just wanted to point
out my experence with the 92-AD. Yes it is has a high price but I thought it
was worth it. I also bought the GPS mike. It's everything I wanted. I think
that it is just the person buying the radio to decide if they want the higher
price stuff. If they both do the same thing and one is a lot cheaper than the
other and you don't want the GPS then I would go with the cheaper one. Again
this is my opinion. Hope you find what you need and don't go overboard with
things that you will not use or need

    Ben,

If you are leaning more towards the IC-92AD, you may want to investigate the
"display blanking problem"... I highly suggest buyin the radio in person so you
can identify if you are buying an older stock/serial number one
