And other modes since have raised that bar considerably. :)

I think ALE and HF DV could be a fantastic mix.  It would certainly 
help optimise paths under some circumstances.  Might not be so good 
for large roundtables (someone who knows ALE could prove me wrong), 
but certainly for point to point (e.g. distant mobile user to 
gateway) applications, I see ALE being very beneficial here.

Haven't tried DRM on shortwave, but then again, I was never much of a 
SWL to begin with.  Been a while since I've tuned a receiver outside 
the ham bands. ;)
