Not really intuitive, but pretty accurate.
Another one that would be more intuitive in the US/Can would be:
USUTSLC
USTXDFW1
CAABCLGY
CABCVANC
2 letter iso country code, 2 letter state/province code, 4 letters for
individual units.
Alpha tags need to be really long, to handle large data sets.
