Yep...   Well, for domestic use, I just go by callsign, given that 
country and state are implicit in Australia, and then the number of 
cases are small enough to remember where they are.  In practice 
though, I simply leave the frequency on the display.  By a quirk of 
nature (i.e. this probably won't work for most!), I actually find it 
easier to remember what each memory is for, from the frequency/mode info. :)

Now, for travelling, I would probably organise the memories on the PC 
and load up an appropriate ICF file, with a bank of memories for the 
area I'm travelling in programmed.

I think everyone needs to come up with their own system that works 
for them.  All we can do here is swap ideas, and I'm not a good 
example, because I have a long history of adapting to whatever user 
interface is put in front of me. :)
