Their main goal is however you configure them. Hot Spot works just as well in repeater mode as it does in simplex mode. You might be surprised how many Hot Spot repeaters there are in operation. In Belgium it looks like about 30 percent of their repeaters are Hot Spots. That percentage goes up considerably if you throw in all the simplex nodes with wide area coverage. Still, it's a considerable percentage. It's nice to see D-STAR home brewing in action as there seemed to be so many saying that D-STAR would be impossible to home brew when it first came out.
