I'd still look for higher SWR, SWR can change dramatically over a relatively small area.
Other items to look for, voltage dropouts and high temperature. And is often the case, all of the above. When transmitting on high power (into port B of W0CDS), the unit cuts out and gives four long beeps. I initially thought it was a high SWR safety feature, but when transmitting on high on other frequencies near this one there is no problem.
