Michael,
Do you remember me ? I was the one at the last lug meeting wearing the
openBSD 3.5 shirt ?
i started my BSD career with openBSD 3.3, close to 4 years ago, and
have never looked back. I use openBSD, FreeBSD, SuSE Linux and
Darwin OS. I have over 40 openBSD firewalls currently in production.
Your question about linux compared to BSD could spark a debate that
could go on for hours... Just use everyones fav search engine,
(google) and try to find the answer and you shall see what I mean.
to quote a phrase I once heard along time ago:
"BSD is what you get when a bunch of Unix hackers sit down to try to
port a Unix system to the PC. Linux is what you get when a bunch of PC
hackers sit down and try to write a Unix system for the PC."
Some parts of the two OSes are very similar and some are completely
different. I.e Packet filtering vs ip tables.
If you have any specific questions then let me know, other wise I
could fill up the entire post with differences and why one vs the
other.
