I agree on that one. tor's performance is not everything. It does do
the trick for the filtering though. Of course EIM has also blocked the
tor homepage :)
Proxy in the Freezone's is a good option performance wise. Otherwise
any proxy outside of the UAE will do. From my point of view, as long
as there is any internet connectivity, people will always find a way
out of the EIM restrictions.

I'm also getting tired of that "...conflicts with the moral, political
blah blah views of the UAE...". Sensorship sucks...

The sad part is though, that people shouldn't be trying to find ways
around the proxy. Instead the establishment here should lighten up a
bit. Offer "home sensorship applications" or something to protect your
kids from explicit content, but don't take the control of which sites
we can access and which not away from the subscribers who last I've
heard PAY for a connection to the Internet.

Another idea is for them to at least change their "blocked" message to
include "because this site costs Etisalat a lot of money" and make it
appear when you try to access www.skype.com. I mean, in which way does
skype conflict with the moral or political values of the UAE? Let
alone religious values :)

Maybe "someone" should come up with bumper stickers: "Etisalat: (site)
FREEDOM blocked"
:D

Damn Westeners with their ideas of freedom!! Oh yes, they need our oil
and we got extremely rich in the process :)
