Aha! One problem is solved, looks like I was being over-paranoid. I
forgot to configure privoxy to use Tor. I thought this was done
automagically. Turns out not, so my bad, sorry...
However, following problems remain:
Without tunneling or proxying any attempt for me to log into yahoo
services is answered with a "connection reset" after trying for about
3-4 minutes.
MSN Live messenger still doesn't work for me. It tries to sign in for
about 3-4 minutes and then it gives some funky error code. Anyone else
unable to use Live Messenger? Gaim however has no trouble connecting
to the MSN protocol. But it is known to use some older version of the
protocol. My buddy who is on Etisalat in the Gardens has no trouble
using MSN Live Messenger.
My Windows Update is not working at all when I'm connected directly to
Etisalat.
I am starting to guess that these three problems might be related
somehow. Maybe I have to look in the direction of HTTPS traffic. I
know yahoo login, MSN Live Messenger and Windows update all three use
SSL. Food for thought.... I'll keep you posted!
