Yes, but then I will need a Twitter account, plus will have to send all my
updates to a UK number, as you mentioned. That will turn out to be expensive in
the long run.

Apparently there are only 5000 Twitter users in the Middle East compared to 1
million Facebook users. Didn't think doing something with Twitter was worth my
time, especially because I was thinking only local users would find the app
interesting.

I could have(still can) setup the application to SMS users their friends'
status updates, but then that will cost me money to send outbound text messages
and I will have to make this a paid service, which I didn't think was a good
idea.
