I don't think I have a solution for you, perhaps others with more knowledge of the details will, but I do have allot of experience struggling to get the receiver and controllers to work. with a PC as LMS (I now have PiCore). So, I have a few thoughts. It sounds to me like you have network or internet problems.
First, and I am not sure it did anything useful, maybe more of a ritual, I would turn everything off, and turn things on in this order - modem router, PC, SB's Check your internet connection - can you get to websites? Have you tried running squeezelite or squeezelite-x on your PC? This would tell you that everything is up and running with LMS, your ISP, etc. If you are not familiar: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?108550-Announce-Squeezelite-X&highlight=squeezelite-x For your connection about "connect using squeezebox" You can connect the Duet (controller and receiver combo) three ways: 1) All wireless - both controller and receiver connect to wireless network 2) Hybrid - this is yours, receiver to internet, controller to your wireless network 3) Bridged - use when you don't have a wireless network - receiver to ethernet, controller needs wireless of some sort, so the receiver acts as a bridge to the controller https://www.logitech.com/images/pdf/userguides/eng/Logitech_Squeezebox_Duet-ENG.pdf (see page 13) Not sure why it would give you the option sometimes and not others, but perhaps if you can connect via "connect using squeezebox" and not through your wireless, that would tell you your wireless is down? Then your controller communicates with LMS through your receiver. You say you are not using wireless, but remember, you are, the controller is, in Hybrid mode. That's the best I have for now.
