Hi,
exactly. While this solves the issue of mesh generation, performing the
calculation in 2D as is doesn't account for the fact that you intent to
solve a radially symmetric problem.
In principle, each integration has to be multiplied by the factor
2.pi.r. One way to achieve this would be to define an appropriate
extrusion factor. I remember that we discussed this a while ago, but I
don't remember with whom and if it actually got implemented. But I'm
pretty sure that one or more persons joining this discussion are on this
list. Can you please step forward?
Kind regards
Bernd

Hi Alex,
I think what you are looking for (2D radial symmetric problem) is not
implemented anywhere. It would require to set different "extrusion
factors"
for x-faces, y-faces and volumes. You would have to implement these
scalings manually at the right places.
Cheers,
Timo

Hi Alex,
The cakegridcreator.hh file is located in dumux-stable in the
/dumux/io subfolder.
In addition, the test/io/gridcreator/ folder contains a test together
with an input file. Running this simple test will create a .vtu file,
which you can then display with Paraview.
Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the answer. Please be more specific.
Where are these files located?
Best wishes,
Alex

Hi Alex,
the piece of cake code allows you to create a grid with zero height
by specifying the minimal and maximal value in the axial direction
as zero. But you will still get a grid with a third dimension (all
zeroes), which requires you to specify boundary conditions in the
third dimension.
Alternatively, you could alter the cakegridcreator.hh file and get
rid of the routines which are responsible for the extrusion of the
piece of cake in the third dimension.
Cheers,
Martin

Hello,
Is there in Dumux a 2D radial problem (in a vertical
cross-section)? So that it does not require running the full 3D
or “piece of cake”.
Best wishes,
Alex
