Suggest remove the battery...its located in the lower
section of the computer and is removed by depressing
the rectangular shaped button on the front face and
then sliding the latch to the left.  The battery will
then slide out towards you. Then, try booting up with
the AC adapter providing the power.  As Ken mentioned,
would be a good idea to try a boot-up sans extensions
(hold down Shift key during boot-up until you see
screen notice "Extensions Off)."  The battery may/may
not be good...might only need conditioning/recharge;
suggest don't invest in a new one until you are sure.
