ADB and SCSI are very different. SCSI absolutely should not be connected or
disconnected while the computer is running or sleeping. ADB is much more flexible
although depending on the device you may not get the result you were hoping for.
I think the damage reported on this list was from connecting a SCSI device
during sleep.
