>Hi, > >I have two SCSI system cables (HDI-29 to 50-pin) for my Powerbook 2400. >Both of them give flaky connections. Using either cable, Toast will not >find my CD Recorder unless I stress the connector going into the >powerbook by pulling it in a plane perpedicular to the cable axis. Both >cables want the stress in a different direction, however. > >A repair guy at a local shop told me that "SCSI cables go bad alot". >I've used alot of electronic connectors in my life, and these HDI >connectors *look* like they are mil-spec, industrial strength! > >Has anyone else found these to be flaky? What about a flaky connector on >my powerbook? > > I think the latter is the case. The only time I use it in a SCSI mode when I use it as a SCSI disk. I have to sit by it and push the conenctor in strongly and in a peculiar angle for the connection to work. I got some lead weights that now I simply place around the PB and the cable so I can leave it alone. If Apple does not come out wth a new subnotebook soon i will have to invest in a Firewire card and the problems with the SCSI will be one of the main reason. -- -------------- SANDysign, Inc.
