I'd like to clarify something. Darwin is the piece of Mac OS X that runs on
G3/G4s only. Also, according to apple, it will run on 604s. You may be able
to use an unsupported install on those. It would be impossible to run Darwin
on a 68K machine without a lot of work. Darwin is the core, not BSD. B-E-T-A
means that the OS could still be changed. GM will run in 64MB of RAM. Apple
said that the final would run on all shipping machines, which means it will
run in 64MB of RAM. It will be optimized to require less RAM. Don't expect 5
year old laptops to run new OSes. In MS's case, don't expect 1 year old
laptops to run new OSes.
