Thank all of you for your responses. I have emailed the seller three
times about this and I am not sure he is going to respond. That's
another issue. The 2400 is running on OS8.6. I tried to turn off
the extensions, and did, but I got a message that there was a problem
with the cache memory and I needed to see a service technician for
assistance. After I said "ok" then it booted up but Drag.Lib can't
be opened because the application MPW couldn't be found. I found it
in the applications folder but it doesn't seem to be using any space
on the hard drive. I have a scsi cd rom and OS 8.6 - should I reload
it?
To respond to other queries - when I first got the laptop out of the
shipping box and turned it on, Mac logo came on and OS 8.6 it said
something about an unintentional something and then died. I couldn't
get it rebooted. I found out later about the reset button and the
computer came on after about 2 seconds of pressing but the battery
had gone almost dead and the machine died after 10 more seconds (I
had left the powercord at the office). After I got the powercord, it
rebooted, the finder was fine and I opened word 98 from the finder,
typed in one sentence then word quit/crashed, I reset the machine
from behind and it came back with the DragLib problem, which
apparently cannot be turned back on b/c the "MPW" application is
missing. The DragLib request comes on after the Mac OS 8.6 logo and
all the little logos pop up along the bottom of the screen, which is
blue, then the background (looks like easter eggs) come on with the
nasty "DragLib" box.
I just bought this thing because I travel a lot and my wallstreet is
too heavy. I just want to use the machine. Will reloading OS 8 do
it? Also, do I need to send it to a technician for the cache memory?
I have never had problems with my macs before and I am certainly no
technician, so I am very disappointed and frustrated so any help
would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your advice.
Loretta
