Are you shutting it down before you put that in there? Is it like plugged
into the wall also. Some batteries may hold just enough power to start, a
few second later down it goes again.(Its on stand by) Shut it down, put in
the battery, plug it into the AC adapter and see if it will charge, then
test to see how long the charge stays. Like 15 minutes, half hour. If it
only holds power for a-minute or 2 it shot!!!

Just to add to my own message, the computer won't restart if the battery in.
Is this normal behavior in a 280c?
I'm asking because I've just got it, so I'd like to know if something is
wrong or what.
