Thanks. So I guess:

AX (product code?)
2 (nd year of 1990s)
51 (st week of year)
1JB0 (serial number for that week?)
NA  (North American model?)
B  (revision)

Interestingly but unrelatedly, pretty much all of the serial numbers inside
my still dead & disassembled 2400 are IBM-style, even including the
Apple-logoed battery. Only the one on the outside is Apple, with the usual
year and week et al.
