Thanks much Robert. From looking through DigiKey (www.digikey.com),
the closest match I can find, size and current and voltage wise is a
VL2330/1VC. The only difference is, the tabs are offset by 1cm. If
the battery is the right V and amps, then I should be able to use the
cables from a dead param battery and put together a new one. The
batts seem to cost about $7 or so. There may be better, longer
lasting cells, but I am not sure enough to get too wild with
experimenting.
If anyone could explain why there are 3 contacts for the batteries
(why is there a contact sandwiched between the 2 cells) I would be
most grateful.
