Regarding Duo HD mounting brackets, here is my take.
1.) if you have a drive that fits, but is thicker than 12mm, you have to
jury-rig it (regardless of where the term comes from!) I did this using
small zip ties. I hope to soon have pictures of this up on the web. BTW be
vewy, veewwy caaaareful (bad typing interpretation of Elmer Fudd) when
using the zip-tie approach, b/c it is bound to put some pressure on the
edges of the circuit board, which means that it might crack it, especially
if it gets bumped at all.
2.) If the drive is 12mm or thinner, then purchase a set of mounting
adapters. They are cheap and will last longer, and put no stress on the
drive hardware. (The circuit board problem I mentioned above.
3.) I have a set I bought from the powerbook guy and they seem quite
good. If anyone wants them, let me know (though I doubt it would be
economically reasonable.) The only reason I didn't use them is that my
drive was a 17mm drive and the drive wouldn't fit If I used the adapter.
The adapters look like this:
