Sorry, guys, but I need to vent a bit! I did buy a 36MB RAM expansion for my Duo 2300c. Just received the memory today, and tonight, I did replace the 12MB it had with this 36MB. However, upon restart, the computer would only report 28MB total memory. Further examination of the memory card revealed what appears to be a socket, right in the middle. Now, in my original Duo, I had a 20MB card, which was made with 2 small boards. The expansion I bought says "36MB" on a sticker, but it looks like a piece is missing. It's from TechWorks. Now, I contacted the seller on eBay. His reply was more than disappointing. As you can see in the following link <http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=477911787>, the memory is clearly advertised as a 36MB upgrade. However, the seller replied that: "I am not sure about this one. The chip is complete, it may be a problem with the DUO. Check to see, it may only take a specific amount of memory. This item doesn't have any warranty or anything so there is not much I can do. I don't know much about Apple in general, I especially don't know much about the DUO. I just photoed the memory chips and listed them according to what was written on them. Perhaps you may be able to find a friend who could use it and sell it to him/them. If you find out for sure it is incomplete let me know and I'll see if there is something I can do." So, what do you think guys? AFAIK, the 2300c will accept all memory for any Duo. The opposite is not true, as some memory chips I believe would only fit in a 2300c, but it should accept any Duo memory card, am I right? Then, anybody is familiar with this TechWorks 36MB memory card? Can anybody provide me with any detail on that card, as to whether it comes with 2 small PCBs, connected by a socket? Finally, would there be any reason why the 2300c would recognize only 20MB of this supposedly 36MB? I paid $102.50 for that card and I'm not going to let it go! Thanks in advance, folks! -Laurent. ============================================================ Laurent Daudelin <http://home.cox.rr.com/nemesys> Logiciels Nemesys Software mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
