If you don't mind the loss of speed stick with it for at least 3-4 months to
see if it's what you want.  If you get to the "O'gawd I can take this any
more" Go back to 8.6!
On OS/ choices,  it's a personal thing on what your willing to put up with.
Depending on Ram I follow my own little set of rules for my Mac systems!
68K systems = OS/7.6.1
PPC systems = under 140 mhz OS/ 8.1
PPC systems = over 140 mhz OS/ 8.6
G3 & G3 upgrades 8.6 or 9.0
G4 all get 9.0
RAM is the most important feature, the more ram the better they run.  I try
to max the ram and still stay with in budgeting.
