Hi there, folks!

Here I am with a dead WGS 8550/200 AND a dead 2400.

Well, the 2400 probably has a dead logic board. (that's what the original
owner said in the Ebay listing, anyway) However, I want to eliminate the
I/O board and the 603e processor board, too. So if anyone wants to ship me
their 2400 so i can dismantle it and swap parts with mine until I figure
out what is broken, please e-mail me and I will send my address!

Just kidding. However, I have dismantled this machine repeatedly, and am
getting quite good at it. Anyway, I have gotten it to start up to a
flashing question mark twice. One of those time I connected the floppy and
inserted the 8.1 PPC Disk Tools disk. It booted to an error (it was just
the outline of the error box flickering at high speed. It did show the
MacOS splash screen on that occasion (Blac and White b/c it was the disk
tools disk.)

Both of these startup moments were immediately after disassembly. I have
tried leaving the machine unplugged, battery removed, PRAM battery removed
for 24+ hours, and no luck. I have disassembled the machine at least six
times, if not ten, and only teice has is chimed and started up. Otherwise,
simply the green light/click of death.

does this sound like a logic board problem? Maybe an I/O board problem?
Maybe a processor card problem? (original 603e)

Any help appreciated.

Tom

PS: Seriously, if anyonedoes have any of these parts laying about, I might
be interested in trying to swap them so I can figure out what is broken....
( you know, an old 603e that I could slip in to see if the processor card
is the problem....

PPS: The Hard Drive says "Serviceable Used Part" Does that mean that it is
not the original one? Whoever took this thing apart the first time was a
barbarian, BTW. Screws in the wrong holes, missingscrews, you name it.

PPPS: I will ship it off to DT&T if I have to. $300 plus what I paid for it
should still net me a profit if I sell it.
