I don't recall seeing anybody replying to this, so here it goes. You
can't use a printer to make a bridge, just because there is one computer
connected to one port and another one connected to another port. What
you're talking about is a bridge. I suggest you start with a small
Ethernet hub. Plug your iMac in it. Then, get an AppleTalk
LocalTalk-Ethernet bridge, like the Asante "AsanteTalk". You can then
connect this bridge to your hub. All peripherals that don't have any
option for Ethernet go on the LocalTalk portion of your LAN. The Duo 230
could be equipped with a Mini or Micro EN/SC, providing ethernet access
from the SCSI port. That's what I use. If Epson doesn't provide some
kind of "PrinterShare" application to share this serial printer on the
network, then I'm afraid the only Mac that will be able to print on it
will be the one to which the printer is attached. I suggest you attach
it to your iMac and transfer files to print from the other computers to
the iMac using file sharing. You then print from the iMac. The
LaserWriter should be available to all computer on the network,
regadless if they're on LocalTalk or ethernet.
Just a starter. I'm sure that others will chime in with their own
suggestions...
