Check Belkin and get a nice little hub! Or USB to Serial (maybe better) for
the Imac so you can use the Phone net system with them all if you have
adapters. You can also use 7.5. with the Farallon Phone net even on the
older macs. Many moons ago (heard that on TV) I had 68k (2) MacII si, (2)
Mac PPC 7100, (1) Duo 280c and (1) Performa 636cd Running OS/7.5 @ 7.6.1
Networked that way! Use Apple Talk and Apple Share you will need to set-up
user/guest on the computers though! With the phone net you can run lines all
over the house! Outside in the garage etc... Use communication off the
printer port it's faster! You can set up passwords or have it an open share
system, Files or full hard drives. The printer just needs to be in the same
line (or sharded from one of the mac's) at the rest of the system sort of
one big daisy chain of computers! Use the Dual outlet adapters and make
sure you use a terminator at each end! (Even the Classic will run 7.5.5)

Subject: [Duo2400] Networking for Dummies

To work with I have:

-iMac DV SE 500/56.6/sys 9.04
-Duo 230 w/14.4/sys 7.5.1 (no Dock)
-Mac Classic/2400/sys 7.1 or 7.5
-Quadra 630 AV/28.8/sys 7.6.1 (no ethernet)
-Epson 740 USB/serial
-LaserWriter Select 360
-Farallon Phonet Adapter (1), with lots of phone cord.
-I also have two phone lines

What I basically want to do is have the Macs talk to each other and be able
to print off both printers. I was wondering if the Espon could be used as a
bridge between the iMac and the pre USB Macs if the iMac was connected via
USB and the pre USB Macs via serial to create a LocalTalk AppleTalk
network...

Thanks

Dylan
