I totally relate and am in the exact same position.

The dance you mentioned also worked for me a few times. even to a full start 
up. But less so now. I have tried desasembling and this had no effect. I 
just wished I had got a few things off when it did start up. (I thought once 
it was up that would be the problem solved)

I am going to leave it for a little longer then dissasemble and put in the 
old processor card and HD for a laugh and see what happens. (not hopefull 
though)

DT&T is my next step.

My question to the group though is if DT&T replace the logic board would my 
carbus upgrade from MCE need to be redone?
