For what I use a computer for, it is barren. Nothing close to
PhotoShop (Gimp isn't even close, it dosn't even have CMYK!) nothing
like Illustrator, and no page layout like Quark or PageMaker.
Linux is good for a server ... that that about it. I run two Linxu
servers at home. One is my Firewall and the other is my domain,
sendmail, netatalk, httpd, ftp and mp3music server.
Oh yes, Freshmeat. The only place to find 20 applications to do the
same thing not very well. Or one command line program with so many
GUI front ends it isn't funny.
Oh yeah, I don't see any DV editing software for linux yet either
.... let alone FireWire support ...
Linux has it's power in the server not the desktop for me.
