If your mounting the 2300 drive and the DuoDock drive to the desktop of your
G3 and transferring files between them, keep in mind that the 700MB file has
to move across ethernet from the 2300 and back to the other drive. Hence the
G3's finder is managing the transfer plus the 700MB file is creating it's
own traffic on the ethernet network which causes additional slowdown.

One other solution to consider is to give up a few lunches at McDonalds and
buy a keyboard, mouse and monitor. I like to scrounge around thrift stores
looking for Mac goodies. If you shop around you can pick up those items for
around $10.

In the last couple years I've picked up 3 old monitors, a 12" for $3 and 2
15" Performa Multisyncs for $6ea. I've also found numerous keyboards for
$2-5, and several mice for $1ea. I've used these things for my kids
machines, an old 7100 I use as a server/router/firewall, a DuoDock and I
have extras on a shelf.
