Okay, after my last post seeking help with my non-charging PRAM
battery, I took my 2400c to a local Mac repair shop. Suffice it to
say, I knew I had the wrong place when he told me that there are no
powerbooks that will let you switch main batteries while in sleep
mode. He said Apple requires you to shut down the machine to switch
batteries, or at least plug it into the wall.

I then called MCE, who quickly informed me that the I/O board on
2400c computers has a fuse that, when blown, will prevent charging of
the PRAM battery and eventually, of the main battery. It's about a
$150.00 fix. Since I rarely have need to switch batteries away from
the a/c adapter, I probably will just live with this minor
inconvenience. Unless, that is, if anyone on the list has a 2400c
that they are parting out--I'll take an I/O board! This is the board
with the a/c plug.

Anyway, I thought this might be of use to someone else on the list.
BTW, I now have two PRAM batteries (another story entirely) that I
would be willing to unload.

Thanks for listening!
dave
