Well, after my report on Tattletech's positive identification of
Cardbus on my 2400, I picked up a FireWire Cardbus card for very
little on e-bay, just to try it out. I figured worst case scenario,
either I get MCE to do the upgrade, or I put the card back up on
e-bay. I downloaded the driver from the manufacturer, popped in the
card, and it appears on my desktop, identifying itself as a Cardbus
Firewire card. Now, I don't have any firewire devices (yet!), but I
take this as a relatively positive sign. I'm going to go see if the
local computer shop has a digital video recorder or FW hard drive
that I can plug in, and I'll let you all know what happens. I am
cautiously hopeful that I am one of the lucky ones whose 2400 is
already Cardbus enabled. This would definitely stave off my
increasingly strong cravings for titanium.
