-I'd also recommend OS 7.6, just because of its modern internet controls,
so similar to OS 8.  Our school (I'm a teacher) took all of the 030 Macs in
the building to 7.6.1 three years ago, just for that reason.
 -But saying that "anything lower requires a restart..."  Sorry, but it's
been my experience that both anything lower AND anything HIGHER all require
restarts after a crash.  I crash Macs every day (yes, EVERY) at home or
work, and every one of them from OS8 to 9.1 ALL tell me to restart when some
app crashes.  I usually save, then ignore the warning.  Then within a few
minutes, the computer freezes.  It never fails.
