Hello duo-powerbook comrades.. It seems as of late, the list has been drifting off duo-slash-powerbook topics....and on to other NON topics..which is fine to a point. But in my opinion, we NEED to focus on the strengths of this list, which is the duo series, (from 210 up to the 2300) the GREAT 2400, and other powerbooks such as the 1400, 5300, etc.....and what is the best Mac OS for the apple LAPTOP in question.. Myself, I use both a 270c (upgraded to a 280c) and a 1400. my fave powerbook is still the 270c....due to it's size and weight, and because it does not use a track pad...However, some people prefer the pad....I don't.. I also use a duo dock II and sometimes a mini dock, with a radius 20'inch monitor..as my 2nd Mac ( and back up net surfer, and email gathering device) if my iMAC wants to take the day off, etc..... I love my little 270c......sure it's somewhat dog arse S-L-O-W- with certain software...and it's internal 14.4 modem is squaresville... and running at 33 mhz, is SNAIL CITY....but hey, it DOES exactly what I need it to do....word processing, either on the road, or my fave watering hole both here in Elvis central, or on the road..and it surfs the WWW using Netscape...and iCAB, (even better) quite well.. although at times, it bogs down....but like all older 'vintage' macs, it does the day I want it to do day in and day out...and people who see it on the road, and especially my WINTEL geek-ola pals, are AMAZED that it still KICKS it out....which for most WINTEL machines, can't do this well, and often end up as fanct WINTEL door stops, and boat ANCHORS... I enjoy reading and hearing about the 2400..and all the pros and cons of not only that GREAT little powerbook, but the others as well...and several users on this list, HAVE given some right-on-the-money-advice and solutions to any number of problems dogging our beloved duos and powerbooks... Which is fantastic, because I don't think APPLE ever dream some of these powerbooks and even desktop macs, would STILL be running and doing what WE WANT THEM to do 5, 6,7, years after their release...HECK, a good friend of mine STILL uses his Powerbook 100...as a daily road warrior... and my 270c, still gets looks from people, when I use it in public.... SURE, I would LOVE a g3 powerbbok, an i-Book, or the new sleek and SEXY T-book, but at the money, the long green ain't in the budget, and Elvis hasn't cut me that check...SO using stuff like the 270c, is an great work-a-round...and STILL does the job ! as with everyone who still uses a 2400, etc.....they are GREAT mobile macs ! We need to focus on our machines...share info....offer solutions, and if we have, or know of work-a-rounds, or needed parts to keep our little friends up and running, CONTINUE to do so to everyone on this lovely list....and you bet your rear end, APPLE cocks their ear to this list...as the customer (US) is K-I-N-G-!
