Could be.
One possibility is that the hinge covers are binding somewhere. They are fiendishly hard to get on and off at times. They might not be pressed in all the way. When you get the manual you may see how it attaches.
Other possibility is that you may just need to tighten the tork screws hidden under two plastic dots on the lcd side of the screen that hold the top and bottom case halves together.
One last possibility is that perhaps someone dissasembled the lcd case. There are several plastic "teeth" at the latch end of the top case that are easy to break and will allow the top seam to flair open. Once the teeth are broken its real, real hard to fix unless you're friendly with a dentist who can thread some ridiculously small pins where the teeth were.
