What has probably happened is that one or both of the two screws which hold
the back and front of the lid together (under the square pieces of tape
under the display) have been tightened so much they shattered the plastic
bit where the screw goes into the back. If you are really lucky, all the
pieces of plastic are still there, and you can repair it with epoxy glue
with reinforcement around it (wire or fiberglass, etc.) Wait until you get
the manual.
